Oh man. Sometimes the to-do list is a mile long and the stress level is through the roof. The last two weeks have been off of the charts busy for me. No one needs the list but just know I have been go go going and I need some self care.
My next self care date, which of course has to be scheduled, I am going to try a hot stone massage. Its been on my list for quite a long time and I have a friend, a business owner like me, that specializes in massage. She has added it to her specialties and I cant wait to be one of the first few to use her services. I have heard great things about them.
There is always a benefit to self care but in this instance the benefits are:
-pain relief
-Reduced inflation
-increased flexibility
-Improved circulation
-Reduced stress and anxiety
Mostly I am going for the stress and anxiety but all the others will be good too. Cant wait to try it out! Hopefully first of many.
The more and more advanced that we get, the more and more we lose what is important or just the basic things. Minimalism is a trend but with everything at the push of a button what have we lost? We depend on someone or something else to provide everything for us. We dont build with our hands or build relationships with foundations. We order or we have a machine do it all.
You wont find me in a dirt covered set of overalls, plucking eggs from chickens any time soon but I do feel that this is an important part of daily life that we look over. There is a whole spectrum of joy planting things and watching them grow, knowing that your labor of love has produce fruit and veggies. I wont be in a jumpsuit or a construction hat either but I know how things work. I have used tools to build rooms, to change tires, to cook things. Knowing you are capable is a freedom like no other.
Home life needs to be just that. Life. No matter who you are or what type of relationship you have, we all need to enjoy the family that we have. I love spending time with my family and having family dinner or chatting about each others day. Remembering that work only pays the bills but doesnt miss you or care if you show up. Living and not existing. Loving and fighting with your spouse because thats how marriage vows work. teaching your kids or nieces and nephews how to have fun and be creative and fearless. taking a legit break from society when it is needs.
My home for the future is simple. I dont need a fancy, automated, busy home. I need a local market to supply what I cant grow from home. I need access to how to videos and basic skills for around the house. I need a support system of family and friends that want to be in my life and want to grow with me, not just in the garden. lol I want basic tech that I have access to when I want but that doesnt control my day. Eventually, when things get to crazy, we naturally resort to simpler times. This is what I think we all need for the future!
Why Repainting Your Home in Las Vegas Can Transform Your Space
Las Vegas is known for its vibrant energy, unique landscapes, and diverse neighborhoods, from Anthem and Inspirada to North Las Vegas and Henderson. Whether you’re looking to capture the natural beauty of the desert, modernize your home, or blend traditional and contemporary styles, repainting your home can make a significant difference. Here’s why investing in a fresh coat of paint is valuable for your Las Vegas home, both inside and out.
1. Capture the Essence of the Desert
The desert surrounding Las Vegas offers a palette of natural colors that can be beautifully reflected in your home’s exterior. Earthy tones like sandy beiges, warm terracottas, and muted greens can help your house blend seamlessly with the landscape. These colors not only pay homage to the desert but also provide a timeless, sophisticated look that’s uniquely suited to the region.
2. Transform Your Home with a Modern Aesthetic
If you’re in neighborhoods like Inspirada or Henderson, where modern architecture is prevalent, updating your home’s exterior with sleek, contemporary colors can enhance its appeal. Consider shades of cool gray, stark white, or even bold blacks to create a clean, modern look. These colors can emphasize the architectural lines of your home, making it stand out as a chic and stylish residence.
3. Create a Transitional Look: A Modern Build with Traditional Colors
For those who appreciate the mix of old and new, a transitional look might be the perfect choice. This approach allows you to enjoy the benefits of modern construction while incorporating traditional colors that evoke a sense of history and warmth. Think deep navy blues, rich maroons, or even a classic cream. These colors can soften the modern edges of your home, creating a welcoming and balanced aesthetic.
4. Interior Paint: Inspire and Define Your Space
Inside your home, paint plays a crucial role in setting the tone and mood. Whether you’re looking to create a serene retreat in your bedroom, an energizing space in your living room, or a cozy dining area, the right colors can help define your vibe.
Inspire Tranquility: Soft blues, muted greens, and gentle lavenders can create a calming atmosphere, perfect for bedrooms and bathrooms.
Energize Your Space: Vibrant yellows, bold reds, and bright oranges can inject energy and creativity into living rooms, kitchens, and home offices.
Create Coziness: Warm neutrals, deep browns, and rich burgundies are ideal for spaces where you want to feel comfortable and relaxed, like dining rooms and family rooms.
5. Boost Your Home’s Value
Repainting your home, both inside and out, isn’t just about aesthetics—it can also increase your property’s value. A fresh, modern exterior can boost curb appeal, making your home more attractive to potential buyers. On the inside, a well-chosen color palette can make your space feel more luxurious and well-maintained, adding to its overall marketability.
Conclusion
For Las Vegas locals in areas like Anthem, Inspirada, North Las Vegas, and Henderson, repainting your home is an investment that can yield significant returns. Whether you’re aiming to reflect the natural beauty of the desert, embrace a modern look, or create a transitional aesthetic, a new coat of paint can transform your space and enhance your quality of life. Don’t underestimate the power of color—it’s one of the simplest yet most impactful ways to reinvent your home.
We have moved on from the beige trend and the gray trend and more and more I am seeing White. The clean classic look is coming back and is warming up color palettes. When it comes to painting your home, selecting the right white can be surprisingly challenging. With so many shades to choose from, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. However, by considering undertones and lighting, you can find the perfect white paint to complement your space.
Understanding Undertones
White paint isn’t just white; it comes with various undertones that can affect how it looks in your space. Undertones are the subtle hues that come through the primary color. Whites can have blue, yellow, pink, or even green undertones. For instance, a white with a blue undertone may appear cooler and crisper, while a white with a yellow undertone will feel warmer and cozier. Identifying the undertones will help you match the paint to your decor and desired ambiance.
Considering Lighting
Lighting plays a crucial role in how paint colors appear on your walls. Natural light changes throughout the day, affecting the appearance of white paint. In rooms with a lot of natural light, whites with cooler undertones can balance the warmth of the sunlight. Conversely, in dimly lit spaces, a warmer white can add a touch of brightness. It’s important to test paint samples at different times of the day to see how the lighting impacts the color.

Conclusion
Choosing the right white paint involves more than just picking a color off a swatch. By understanding undertones and considering the lighting in your space, you can find a shade that enhances your home’s interior. Whether you opt for a popular paint from Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore, taking the time to test and compare different whites will ensure you select the perfect shade for your home.

Getting Ready for Back to School: Organizing Chaos with Style!
Hey there, calling all parents! Can you believe it’s almost that time again? Yep, back-to-school season is upon us, and whether you’re feeling a bit nostalgic or doing the happy dance (no judging here!), one thing’s for sure: it’s time to get the house back into school mode!
Creating Mom’s Command Center
First things first, let’s talk about the heart of your operation: Mom’s (or Dad’s) Command Center. This isn’t just any ol’ space—it’s your lifeline for keeping everything in check. Think of it as your HQ, where you’ll handle schedules, papers, and maybe even steal a moment for yourself (shh, we won’t tell).
Pick Your Spot: Find a central location—kitchen, hallway nook, or even a corner of the living room—where you can set up shop. It should be easily accessible and visible to everyone in the family.
Essentials Checklist: You’ll need:
Calendar: A desk or refrigerator calendar works wonders for tracking school events, appointments, and extracurricular activities.
Inbox: A designated spot for incoming school papers, forms to sign, and letters from teachers.
Supplies Station: Pens, pencils, sticky notes, and maybe even some motivational stickers (because we all need a little pep talk sometimes).
Personal Touches: Add a bit of flair with inspirational quotes, family photos, or a cute plant to keep things fresh.
Organizing for Different Ages
Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of organizing for different ages. From preschoolers to high schoolers, each age group comes with its own set of challenges (and joys!).
Preschool to Elementary: Keep things simple and visual. Hooks at kid-height for backpacks and coats, labeled bins for shoes and lunch boxes, and a bulletin board for displaying artwork or important reminders (like “Don’t forget your permission slip!”).
Middle School to High School: Here’s where things get a bit more sophisticated. Consider a filing system for each child to manage their schedules, assignments, and papers. A whiteboard or digital calendar synced with their devices can help them stay on top of due dates and activities.
Shoe, Bag, and Lunch Drop Zone
Let’s not forget the daily rush out the door! Create a designated drop zone near the door—hooks for backpacks, cubbies or shelves for shoes, and a basket or bin for lunch boxes. Encourage kids to pack their bags the night before to minimize morning chaos (and ensure that favorite hoodie isn’t left behind).
Wrapping It All Up
As you gear up for the back-to-school hustle, remember that organization is your best friend. Take some time to involve the kids in setting up these spaces—they’ll feel more invested and might even be inspired to keep things tidy (a parent can dream, right?).
So, here’s to a smooth transition from lazy summer days to structured school routines. With a bit of planning and a whole lot of love, you’ve got this! Here’s wishing you a fantastic school year ahead filled with learning, laughter, and maybe just a few less lost shoes. Cheers to being the MVPs of the school prep game—let’s do this! 🎒📚
In less than 60 days, my boyfriend and I will be flying off to San Francisco to board a cruise to Hawaii. Its getting so close and I am getting super excited. Its always fun to plan the port excursions and do some outfit shopping.
We have been looking at a few different ideas to explore the islands. Of course as it is Hawaii, we will be making a trip to Pearl Harbor and the U.S.S. Missouri. My bf is a major World War II enthusiast and he cant wait to see where the Japanese Representatives signed and surrendered. I have been to Pearl and have gone to the Arizona Memorial. It is quite a unique, somber and humbling experience to think of the men and women on both sides that lost their lives.
On a less patriotic note, I want to check out the volcano, black sand beaches and as many waterfalls or views as we can get to in our short days. I would love to go snorkel with the turtles (bf is definitely out for that one, fear of sharks lol). If we weren’t cruising I would be going out in the ocean late at night and swim with the Giant Manta Rays. Dolphins…meh. Giant sting rays…heck yeah! There is also a kayaking and hike tour, trips to the pineapple plantations and the coffee groves. So many choices!! And we will be for sure attending an authentic Luau for some of that pork. Yum!
Later this year, right before Thanksgiving, we are doing something crazy. Or at least to me it is. We are going for 5 days of theme park magic. Or theme park blisters, which is tbd. Disneyland, California Adventure, Universal Studios and possibly Legoland. It will be Christmas themed at the parks by then and I cant wait to take my ornament for 2024 and have the characters sign it all. We will come back with custom made Star Wars Lightsabers and Harry Potter Wands. Sometimes I do let me inner nerd out 🙂
I am counting down the days thinking I cant wait til they get here and at the same time I am thinking I have so much to do in that time. Yikes! Either way fun times are ahead. We will already be looking at the next by the time the first rolls around. How are you spending 2025’s vacation days? lol
Why on earth would you settle for one or the other? Of course everyone wants to have things taken care of. We want to live in our own space, pay for the things we need and want and feel like we are in control. As someone who is constantly working on this balance, I know first hand how it feels to be less than secure.
I had a secure job. I worked it thru Covid as an essential worker, I worked it and made just enough to be secure but not enough to be happy. It didnt give me any extra time or money but I didnt need anything. Secure is overrated. In those brief secure moments when I could be adventurous, we are only talking here in the states or maybe Mexico. No tropical or intercontinental adventures.
I think we all have that desire to do and see things more than what we are offered in our secure little bubbles. I am pushing myself and growing not only personally but hopefully financially where I can be comfortable with spending more on adventure. In the mean time this business I am growing is its own adventure.
Today I was in Mississippi, on a facetime color consultation. First video consult, first test to see how I can offer this service to others and expand. I got to see out of their window to a much more luscious green view than what is offered here in the 120 Vegas desert I live in.
My income will continue to increase and that will supply me with security. But I am here for the new things, the new places, activities, new friends etc that will motivate me more towards and adventurous life!! Never settle for this or that. Always strive for this AND that!!!
Many homes have those small, awkward spaces like an alcove or a closet that don’t seem to have a clear purpose. These areas may seem like wasted space, but they present a fantastic opportunity to create a built-in nook. Whether you’re looking to create a cozy reading area, a stylish display, or just a comfy seating spot, these small spaces can be transformed with a little creativity.
Maximizing Natural Lighting
If your small alcove is near a window, consider using natural lighting as a focal point. Positioning a seating area here can make the space feel airy and inviting. A built-in bench under the window with a patterned cushion and some plush pillows can turn this overlooked area into a favorite spot for reading or daydreaming.
Utilizing Shelving for Function and Style
In tight spots, shelving that isn’t much more than 8 to 10 inches deep is perfect for bookshelves or displays. This allows you to make the most of the space without overwhelming it. You can match the shelving materials to the rest of your home for a cohesive look or choose an accent color or finish to make the nook stand out. Adding decorative elements like plants, photos, or small art pieces can further personalize the space.
Comfort and Aesthetics
Comfort is key when designing your nook. If the space is only big enough for a bench, make sure it’s inviting with a comfortable cushion and a few pillows. If there’s room for chairs, choose ones that are not only stylish but also comfortable enough to sit in for extended periods. Consider adding a small side table for convenience.
Personal Touches
Don’t forget to add personal touches to make the nook truly yours. A soft throw blanket, some favorite books, or a unique piece of decor can make the space feel warm and inviting. Whether you’re creating a reading nook, a display area, or a cozy corner to relax, the key is to use the space in a way that complements your lifestyle and brings you joy.
Conclusion
Transforming a small, unused space into a built-in nook is a rewarding project that can enhance the functionality and aesthetic of your home. With thoughtful design choices, you can turn an overlooked alcove or closet into a cozy, inviting area that you’ll love to use. So next time you find yourself with a small, awkward space, think creatively and start planning your perfect nook!
