Camping has been a family thing since before I could talk. Mom has pictures of me in a play pen in a tent. Luckily for me, both of my parents and both sets of grandparents had a thing for it. Dad’s parents had a camper and every summer they would drive out to our part of the country and take us kiddos out for a week or two to visit a state park or a new lake. We always had card or board games, camp fires and hot chocolate. I’m not so hot on burnt marshmallows.
Now that we are grow up its a bit harder to get the family together to go. And with all the new fancy trailers and campers it seems to have lost a little something. But given the chance to get out in nature, I will always opt for going. Our last adventure was a weekend get away up to Bryan Head and the Cedar City area of Utah. Its about 2.5 hours from Las Vegas. The elevation is higher and the trees are plentiful. We spent time hiking and enjoying the little lakes and streams up there.
This summer, I am hoping to do at least two camp trips. One would be a “glamping” trip with my boyfriend and his work buddies or with a few friends of mine. There is a glamping setup not far from Vegas also. They bring out the tents and the mattresses, even AC if requested. I am more for roughing it with sleeping bags but boyfriend likes his comfort. LOL Or we can have one of the friends hitch up the trailer and head up. Either way, the trees, the sounds, the smells and the stars are calling my name. I absolutely love star gazing.
The other one is less of camping and more of entertaining. My 6 year old nephew has been asking to hang out. Where I am staying now, we have a back yard that has artificial grass. I am going to grab a tent and we are going to have a backyard camping trip. We will have food and camp fire activities and we will sleep in the tent. He hasn’t slept outdoors before so it might be a bit hard to get him to sleep, he could be afraid. I have been out in the woods camping, and I still get a bit spooked from the different noises out there.
Anyways, its a summer activity that I highly recommend. There is nothing like taking a trip back into nature. The harmony and the slow pace really center you. Your mind clears from the clutter of work and bills and drama and you take in the beauty. It would be one thing I would do more if I had the time. There’s so many hikes, hills, lakes and rivers to be enjoyed and explored. But please remember to leave it better than you found it. Take the memories with you, leave some footprints and take whatever you brought with you. We only get one earth, keep it beautiful.
As we are welcoming two husky puppies into the family, my thoughts go to making space for them. When creating a space for your dog, it’s important to consider their comfort and convenience. Here are some tips to help you create the perfect dog-friendly area:
Choose Easy-to-Clean Materials
Dogs can be messy, so it’s important to choose materials that are easy to clean. Opt for flooring that is resistant to scratches and stains, such as laminate or tile. Avoid carpets, as they can absorb odors and be difficult to clean. When selecting furniture, look for materials that are durable and can be easily wiped down, such as leather or microfiber.
Provide a Comfortable Bed
Dog beds come in various sizes and styles. Consider your dog’s size and preferences when selecting a bed. Some dogs prefer beds that are elevated on platforms, while others prefer beds that are on the floor. If there is a dedicate space or wall they can be built in with cushions. Make sure the bed is large enough for your dog to stretch out comfortably. Additionally, choose a bed with a removable cover for easy cleaning.
Choose the Right Food and Water Bowls
When it comes to food and water bowls, there are many options available. Consider your dog’s size and height when selecting the right bowls. Elevated bowls can be beneficial for larger dogs or those with joint issues, as they reduce strain on their neck and back. Additionally, choose bowls that are easy to clean and dishwasher-safe for convenience.
Include Storage for Supplies
Having a designated storage area for your dog’s food, grooming supplies, and other essentials is an absolute must. Consider adding at least one cabinet with a drawer to store food, treats, and medications. This will help keep everything organized and easily accessible. Include shelves or baskets for storing grooming tools, toys, and other supplies. If there is limited space, there are combination food and storage units like this one.
Hang a Hook Rack for Leashes and Gear
A mounted hook rack is a convenient addition to your dog’s space. Hang leashes, collars, raincoats, and any other gear you may have for your pup. This will help keep everything tidy and easily accessible when you need it. Consider placing the hook rack near the entrance or in a convenient location within the dog’s area.
By following these tips, you can create a comfortable and functional space for your dog. Remember to consider their needs and preferences when selecting materials and furniture. A well-designed dog space will not only make your furry friend happy but also make your life easier as a pet owner.
Design. Specifically interior design. But you may have already picked up on this from my blog. Color is my favorite topic. and I am a color consultant. I go into people’s homes and businesses and help them make the selections that fit their unique style and vibe.
But also from my blog, I am distracted. In the sense that I can go from color to design, to nature walks and self help books. I love to discuss positive things, motivational things, higher ideals. The world we live in can be so negative and hard day to day that the way I choose to cope is spend time reading or listening to inspiring people, new places that I will get to one day, or even new design trends to bring into my home or yours.
That is what and why this blog is here for. I would love to discuss what inspires you. What’s your story and what does your home look like? If you have something you would like to change in it, what would it be? Please feel free to ask me color questions or home design questions. I am always up for a new design challenge especially if I can make you home/space flow better. It should be our place of Zen and comfort!
Well I am in the middle of taking a risk right now. I left a steady 40hr/week job to go for my real estate license and to finally start my own business. The last 3 months have been new and challenging but I have never felt better working toward my dreams instead of clocking in to put money in someone else pocket.
I have a long way to go but I am getting into the swing of things. My state exam is being scheduled as we speak and when I have that I will be able to get on with a broker and start the journey to owning my own properties. For the business, my emails and mailers are gaining traction and I am starting to have customers calling. Its exciting!!
So for everyone out there, its scary, exciting, frustrating on some levels but it will be worth it in the long run. Working for yourself is the only way you will follow and reach your dreams. I am right her with you. I have up days and down days but no boss keeping me down!!
From Beige to White: Adding Warmth and Style to Your Home
Are you tired of the dull and lifeless beige walls in your home? Do you want to create a fresh and inviting space without making it feel sterile? Look no further than the timeless elegance of white walls. Whether you prefer warm whites or cool whites, this versatile color can transform your home into a modern and refreshing sanctuary.
Choosing the Right Shade of White
When it comes to white walls, there are countless shades to choose from. Warm whites, with their undertones of cream or beige, can add a cozy and inviting atmosphere to any room. On the other hand, cool whites, with hints of blue or gray, can create a modern and clean aesthetic. The key is to find the perfect balance that suits your personal style and complements your existing decor.
Using White as a Canvas
One of the greatest advantages of white walls is the endless possibilities they offer for adding accents and personal touches. By using white as a base, you can easily incorporate pops of color, patterns, and textures to create a unique and personalized space. Whether you prefer a modern farmhouse look or an airy boho style, white walls provide the perfect backdrop for your creativity to shine.
For a modern farmhouse vibe, consider pairing your white walls with rustic wooden furniture, vintage accessories, and cozy textiles. This combination creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that is both timeless and on-trend. On the other hand, if you’re drawn to the airy boho style, combine your white walls with natural materials, such as rattan or jute, and add pops of greenery for a fresh and organic feel.
Popular White Paint Brands
When it comes to choosing the perfect shade of white, there are a few popular paint brands that are known for their quality and extensive range of white hues. Dunn Edwards and Sherwin Williams are two such brands that offer a wide selection of whites to suit every taste and style. From warm off-whites to cool crisp whites, these brands have you covered.
Remember, when selecting a white paint, it’s essential to test it in different lighting conditions and against your existing decor. The right shade of white can make all the difference in creating the desired atmosphere and ambiance in your home.
In conclusion, transitioning from beige to white walls can breathe new life into your home. Whether you opt for warm or cool whites, white walls provide a blank canvas for your creativity to flourish. With the right accents and personal touches, you can transform your space into a modern and inviting sanctuary. So, why wait? Embrace the beauty of white and embark on a journey of style and warmth.
To my random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively: I was out and doing deliveries today when I realized that I had parked in a weird spot. I was blocking the sanitation worker from aligning with the bins for trash day. I waited until he approached to ask if I could move my car or the bin so that he could get to it and do his job.
The man was absolutely shocked that I would not only take the time to do it but that I asked to help him at all. He was so genuine when he smiled and said thank you so much. He also told me that no one ever moves for him or notices that the job gets done.
I am glad that I could offer him some kindness and assistance. We forget to often that there are jobs that no one wants to do that are important. We look down on those jobs also. It just made me appreciate him and remember that everyone is valuable and special. I smiled and he smiled it was a good day.
Daily writing prompt
Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.
Is your bedroom feeling a bit dull and uninspiring? It’s time for a refresh! You don’t need to spend a fortune or completely overhaul the space to breathe new life into your bedroom. With a few simple changes, you can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere that you’ll love spending time in. Here are some easy ideas to get you started:
Change Up Your Bed
Your bed is the focal point of your bedroom, so why not give it a fresh look? Consider swapping out your bedspread for one in a different color or texture. A new spread can instantly transform the vibe of your room. Opt for a vibrant color to add a pop of excitement or choose a soft, textured fabric for a touch of luxury. You’ll be amazed at how this simple change can make your bed feel brand new.
Let the Light In
Don’t underestimate the power of natural light in creating a bright and airy space. Open up those windows and let the sunshine in. If you currently have heavy blackout drapes, consider switching to sheer curtains or lighter-colored window treatments. These will allow more light to filter through and create a more cheerful and inviting atmosphere in your bedroom.
Add Some Flair with Pillows and Blankets
When it comes to pillows and blankets, more is more! You can never have enough options for layering and styling your bed. Experiment with different colors, patterns, and textures to create a cozy and inviting look. Mix and match pillows of different sizes and shapes, and don’t forget to add a few throw blankets for extra warmth and style. These small additions can make a big impact on the overall aesthetic of your bedroom.
Bring in New Decor
To truly refresh your bedroom, consider adding some new decor pieces. This could be anything from vases and books to wall art or even a new plant. These little touches can add personality and style to your space. Choose items that reflect your taste and make you feel happy and inspired. Whether it’s a unique piece of artwork or a trendy plant, these additions will breathe new life into your bedroom.
Switch Up Your Flooring
If you have wood or tiled floors in your bedroom, consider switching out that heavy wool rug for a jute or woven rug. These natural fiber rugs add warmth and texture to your space, making it feel cozy and inviting. Plus, they are perfect for creating a bohemian or coastal vibe in your bedroom. With a new rug underfoot, you’ll feel like you’re stepping into a whole new room.
Refreshing your bedroom doesn’t have to be a daunting task. By making these simple changes, you can transform your space into a cozy and inviting sanctuary. So go ahead, give your bedroom the refresh it deserves!
If you didn’t know, I am from Sin City. That is Las Vegas Nevada. Home of casinos, resorts, and all kinds of entertainment for the young and adult. But mostly…adult. LOL. This week, we hit the 80s. Around here, that means “Sun’s out Guns out!!” In other words, it means that locals and visitors alike start flocking to the pools and cabanas at the casinos or in the complexes. And absolutely yes, that includes me, well, at least this week.
I have been enjoying the warming weather for a few weeks now. Mingled with the random 50 degree days whenever California kicks us a cold front. I have been spotted rolling with the windows down and enjoying lunch on the patio. Almost all of it is nice except, cough, cough allergies. Endless blooming trees and flowers, beautiful and an enemy at the same time.
Anyways, not the point. A friend of mine, messaged me about going to the pool. I am a local that loves to avoid the strip but she’s been asking to hang out and has needed to go out to celebrate a big decision. Quitting corporate life to build a business. So Cheers!! to that. Sounds like drinks poolside is a good way to celebrate.
We went down to Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel. Which lucky for me is on the south end of the strip and not in the heart of it. Sometimes these are better since they arent as busy. This particular hotel has 3 or 4 different pools. The main family attraction pool is the Mandalay Beach. It is complete with sand and a wave pool, basically as close to the ocean as the Nevada desert can be. The next few months they will host concert nights at the pool. Dip your toes, have a drink and rock out!!
I am not positive, but I think that pool also includes the lazy river but if I am wrong that is part of a quieter pool. The main two are for, you guessed it, the 21+ and older crew and the exclusive customers. They have DJs and shot girls and waiters to bring you snacks and towels.
In Vegas style, we went down just to partake in the Beach. But as we were walking in, one of their pool club guys asked us if we wanted in free to the adults only pool with a couple of free drinks. They were stacking the pool with pretty girls, of course, but hey, I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Trick for Vegas is to find the casino or pool host or event host. They can get you in on the cheap to some things. 🙂
Daylight, the name of the adult pool, was quite the scene when we got to it. Groups of ladies, guys, bigger parties, and people playing hooky like us. Since we got in free and did not have a cabana, we found a small area next to the pool where we could park a towel and our stuff, then walk on in to the refreshing pool. Soon enough, we had made friends with a bunch of guys visiting Vegas for their friends’ Bachelor Party. We arent life long buddies, but it was nice talking with new people, sharing drinks and laughs. Not to mention rocking out to the DJ with those early 2000s bangers. lol
By 4:30 we were sun tanned and tired. its the magical witching hour where the tourists leave to get ready for their night, and we head home. I got to relax and get some sun, make some memories with a friend. Im glad that we got to go before things get wild and way too hot here. If you stop into town, definitely check out the pools. It’s the best Vegas has to offer when it comes to wanting to cool off! Find a little slice of resort in your area, too 🙂
