If you didn’t know, I am from Sin City. That is Las Vegas Nevada. Home of casinos, resorts, and all kinds of entertainment for the young and adult. But mostly…adult. LOL. This week, we hit the 80s. Around here, that means “Sun’s out Guns out!!” In other words, it means that locals and visitors alike start flocking to the pools and cabanas at the casinos or in the complexes. And absolutely yes, that includes me, well, at least this week.

I have been enjoying the warming weather for a few weeks now. Mingled with the random 50 degree days whenever California kicks us a cold front. I have been spotted rolling with the windows down and enjoying lunch on the patio. Almost all of it is nice except, cough, cough allergies. Endless blooming trees and flowers, beautiful and an enemy at the same time.
Anyways, not the point. A friend of mine, messaged me about going to the pool. I am a local that loves to avoid the strip but she’s been asking to hang out and has needed to go out to celebrate a big decision. Quitting corporate life to build a business. So Cheers!! to that. Sounds like drinks poolside is a good way to celebrate.
We went down to Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel. Which lucky for me is on the south end of the strip and not in the heart of it. Sometimes these are better since they arent as busy. This particular hotel has 3 or 4 different pools. The main family attraction pool is the Mandalay Beach. It is complete with sand and a wave pool, basically as close to the ocean as the Nevada desert can be. The next few months they will host concert nights at the pool. Dip your toes, have a drink and rock out!!
I am not positive, but I think that pool also includes the lazy river but if I am wrong that is part of a quieter pool. The main two are for, you guessed it, the 21+ and older crew and the exclusive customers. They have DJs and shot girls and waiters to bring you snacks and towels.
In Vegas style, we went down just to partake in the Beach. But as we were walking in, one of their pool club guys asked us if we wanted in free to the adults only pool with a couple of free drinks. They were stacking the pool with pretty girls, of course, but hey, I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Trick for Vegas is to find the casino or pool host or event host. They can get you in on the cheap to some things. 🙂

Daylight, the name of the adult pool, was quite the scene when we got to it. Groups of ladies, guys, bigger parties, and people playing hooky like us. Since we got in free and did not have a cabana, we found a small area next to the pool where we could park a towel and our stuff, then walk on in to the refreshing pool. Soon enough, we had made friends with a bunch of guys visiting Vegas for their friends’ Bachelor Party. We arent life long buddies, but it was nice talking with new people, sharing drinks and laughs. Not to mention rocking out to the DJ with those early 2000s bangers. lol
By 4:30 we were sun tanned and tired. its the magical witching hour where the tourists leave to get ready for their night, and we head home. I got to relax and get some sun, make some memories with a friend. Im glad that we got to go before things get wild and way too hot here. If you stop into town, definitely check out the pools. It’s the best Vegas has to offer when it comes to wanting to cool off! Find a little slice of resort in your area, too 🙂
